Deal Closer for Harborcreek Mall Property

July 29, 2010, 4:21 pm

Harborcreek Township is now one step closer to selling the vacant Harborcreek Mall property. Supervisors now have a written offer from the Erie County Re-Development Authority to buy the 18 acre site along Route 5. The two sides are now working to finalize a sales agreement. The offer is $512,500, about $45,000 less than the township paid for the property more than a year ago. Still, supervisors think the money was well spent. Supervisor Dean Pepicello said, "I think to get the most of our money back in one fell swoop with a sale then the likelihood of a good development coming in, the tax revenue that would come in is certainly going to be a great opportunity for us." Supervisors hope to finalize the deal within the next 60 days. The authority would then try to sell the land to one or more developers.
