TO SEE THE VIDEO SEGMENTS, SCROLL DOWN THE LIST UNDER THE VIDEO TO REACH SEGMENTS DATED OCTOBER
It’s been some 20 years since October was officially designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month. It has become a time dedicated to increasing the awareness about breast cancer issues and especially about the importance of early detection.
In this month’s Saint Vincent Health Insights reports, we hope to be a part of increasing the awareness about breast cancer and encouraging women to take an active role in their own health. You will hear from Saint Vincent physicians who are involved in the detection, treatment and surgical options for women with breast cancer. And, we’ll tell you more about genetic testing for those women with an inherited alternation to one of two genes which predisposes them to a higher probability of getting breast cancer.
Although about 40,000 women die each year from breast cancer, more than 2 million women are living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer. Awareness of this disease does save lives.
